Hello fellow SoulFire Seekers!
“The element of fire to me is very powerful because of what it symbolizes, how it symbolizes a strength. It symbolizes something that’s unstoppable. You can’t get through it, you know.”

Soulfire Keeping: Nurturing the Flame Within

Deep within each of us lies a unique essence, which I think of as SoulFire. It’s that inner spark, the wellspring where desires, dreams, and hopes live. And when kept well, it can illuminate our lives and help us transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.

When I’m feeling stressed or overwhelmed, I visualize one of my favorite places: sitting beside a campfire… the flames representing how my uniqueness is doing. I tune in, look at that fire, and ask myself – how are those flames doing? Are there flames right now? Have I let it go for so long that we’re just down to embers? What can I throw on this fire in the next few minutes to get it going again? Take a nap? Take a shower? Drink some water or hot tea?

In the midst of our fast-paced and demanding lives, it’s all too easy for our SoulFire to dim. We find ourselves caught up in responsibilities, obligations, and the monotony of routine, inadvertently neglecting this essential essence.

For the next 30 days, consider exploring the significance of “SoulFire keeping” with me. Here are three actions I’m taking to keep the vibrant flame within me burning bright.

Unleashing my Inner Child:

Especially at this time of year when school is letting out for summer, I can feel my inner child getting gleeful. The reality of daily life, however, does not fully allow for some of the joy and wonder we experienced as children. But that innocent curiosity, that unadulterated enthusiasm—these qualities can reignite our SoulFire. So I hope to allow myself to play, explore, and dream without constraints in the coming days. Take a road trip, do some fun summer reading, buy some popsicles, and eat them on the back stairs with my son. In doing so, hopefully, I’ll rediscover some of the boundless creativity that resides within me.

Revisit and Refresh my Sacred Space:

Of course, I have created a Sacred Space in my master bedroom. But much like the treadmill in some people’s homes, my space has become more storage than sacred, more dusty than tranquil. My goal is that within the next week, I will dedicate some time to care for and retreat into this sanctuary.

Embrace the Process:

Whether it’s painting, writing, dancing, or any other pursuit that sparks joy within us, indulging in these activities rejuvenates our spirits and keeps our inner fire alive. That said, it’s important to remember that the journey itself is as valuable as the end result. I tend to fixate on the “perfect” finish instead of just relishing the process of creation. So let’s just embrace the ups and downs, the challenges and breakthroughs, for the very gift they give of deepening our connection to our SoulFire.

I will allow myself to grow, evolve, and adapt along the way.

By prioritizing the nurturing and keeping of our SoulFire, we breathe life into our passions and creativity, fostering a sense of fulfillment and purpose. May we become more in tune with our true selves, radiating our unique brilliance out into the world. With dedication and self-care, we can ensure that our inner spark burns bright, illuminating our daily lives with more passion, energy, and boundless creativity.

Until next time,
blessed be
